Moon, Keep Our Secret

Oh! Gentle moon that keeps our vigil bright,
You lean so close to hear our whispered flame;
Please guard these vows you gathered through the night,
And seal them safe from morning’s curious name.

Do not betray the warmth upon our skin,
Nor spill the hush that learned our secret tone;
Do not let the sun count our scars,
Or read the timid light love etched upon our faces.

Keep secret how our shadows stitched as one,
How our cheeks blushed, and our lips trembled,
How breaths aligned and time forgot to move;
And knelt, as a quiet servant, at our feet.

When daylight comes with questions at the verge,
Be still, be pale, say nothing of our love.
