Do Not Argue With Donkeys
Argument between the donkey and the tiger
Let me tell you a very popular story. Once upon a time, there was an argument between the donkey and the tiger. Then, the donkey proudly said to The Tiger, “The grass is blue.”
The tiger was surprised and said, “No grass is green.”
However, their argument strengthened with time, and both decided to go to arbitration, knowing very well that only one judge on this earth could settle an issue like theirs — the Lion — King of the Jungle.
The Donkey Appeals to the Lion
Before reaching the lion’s throne, the donkey began shouting, “Your Highness, is it true that the grass is blue?”
The lion, looking calm and regal, replied, “True, the grass is blue.”
Feeling victorious, the donkey quickly added, “The tiger disagrees with me, contradicts me, and causes me annoyance. Please punish him.”
Without hesitation, the lion declared, “The tiger will be punished with five years of silence.”
The Tiger’s Confusion
Overjoyed with his perceived victory, the donkey happily went away, repeating to himself, “The grass is blue!”
However, the tiger, though accepting his punishment, was perplexed.
He asked the lion, “Your Majesty, why have you punished me? After all, the grass is green.”
The lion looked at him thoughtfully and said, “Yes, The grass is green.”
The Lion’s Wisdom
Confused, the tiger asked, “So why are you punishing me if the grass is truly green?”
The lion replied, “Your punishment has nothing to do with the colour of the grass.
The problem is that a brave and intelligent animal like you wasted time arguing with a donkey.
You brought this trivial matter before me, wasting your time and mine.”
The Lesson: Don’t Argue with Fools
The lion’s words were clear: “The worst waste of time is arguing with fools and fanatics who do not care about the truth or reality but only want to prove themselves right.
No matter how much evidence you present, some people are incapable of understanding.
Others are blinded by ego, hatred, or resentment. They don’t seek truth; they seek validation of their beliefs, even if they are wrong.”
Value Your peace.
The tiger learned a valuable lesson: Intelligence should remain silent when ignorance screams.
Sometimes, the best response is no response at all. Your peace of mind is far more important than winning a meaningless argument.
In life, it’s crucial to recognise when an argument isn’t worth your time or energy.
Regardless of the facts, engaging with those who only want to be right is fruitless.
Protect your peace of mind, and know that wisdom often lies in knowing when to walk away.
