One Inch That Changed Everything

A businessman named John Smith lived in a big city. He worked very hard and was very smart as well. John spent many hours every day running his company well and making sure everything was perfect.

But John had a big problem: his Neck hurt all the time. He experienced persistent neck pain, severe migraine and frequent dizzy spells.

He met many well-experienced doctors, but his problem continued for months, and the pain got worse. It made it hard for him to think and do his work properly.

Then he decided to visit a renowned doctor from abroad, an expert in neck-related diseases.

The doctor examined him carefully.
X-rays.
Scans.
Long silence.

Then the doctor said, very seriously,
“Mr John, you have a serious condition. You should reduce stress. Enjoy life. Time is Limited.”

John heard only one thing: “Time is limited.”

He walked out shaken.

After hearing this, John was very sad and upset. He felt lost and scared. He decided that he should enjoy the time that he had left. To cheer himself up, he bought many things and started a pleasure life.

Then, he planned to go on a trip to Switzerland to enjoy himself and wanted to buy some new clothes.

One day, he found a small tailor shop with a sign that said, “Diana’s Tailoring  –  Custom Suits and Alterations.”

John went inside the shop and was greeted by Diana, the tailor. She was kind and smiled warmly.

Diana noticed that John had a stiff neck and asked John, “How can I help you today?”

John told her he wanted new clothes. Diana listened carefully and started measuring to stitch the new coat.

She measured and told her assistant,” Neck size 16 inches.”

John said, “No, miss, it’s 15 inches. I always wear a 15-inch collar.”

Diana measured again and said, “It’s 16 inches.”

They repeated this a few times. John was adamant and became annoyed. Finally, he said, “Just make the suit with a 15-inch collar.”

Diana agreed and said, “But I must warn you, sir, if you wear size-15 shirts, you will have persistent neck pain, severe migraine and frequent dizzy spells.

Life becomes painful not always because it is cruel,
but because we keep squeezing ourselves into old sizes,
old habits, old ideas, old beliefs,
even after we have outgrown them.

Sometimes, growth simply needs a little more space.
