Age And Life

A girl once asked me quietly, “What is the difference between age and life?”

I found an answer not in books,

But in the way the heart keeps time.

The hours lived without those we love

Are counted only as age, passing and pale.

But every moment spent holding loved ones close,

That is life, breathing, bright, and real.
